LEADERSHIP TRACK
Courses for
Emerging and Young Leaders, 12+ Hours
195. Servant Leadership (3)
An examination of
the nature of leadership and practical models worthy of
following, with application to civic, church, and professional
life.
265. Global
Perspectives: Becoming Globally
Minded (3)
A study of the
need for relating to one’s world with a well-founded worldview,
with a view to understanding one’s particular circumstances,
aptitudes and God-given aspirations.
275. Youth Issues I (3)
A study of the
issues facing youth as well as the developmental nature of youth
and the issues affecting them and their families.
295. Youth on
Mission (3)
An intensive,
hands-on study to understand the plight of youth around the
world and to develop vision and passion to become involved in
assisting in efforts to strengthen ministry toward youth as a
lifelong priority. This course usually involves a
cross-cultural experience in another country.

Contemporary Christian Life and Practice (3)
A
study of the issues related to practical and ethical issues from
a Christian perspective. Topics: vocation, time/resource
management, marriage relationships, conflict resolution,
evangelism, church involvement, Christian worldview, devotional
life, and physical wellness.
YOUTH MINISTRY TRACK
Courses Toward a Major in
Youth Ministry, 15-18 hours
In conjunction with
Christian universities, the Institute provides a minimum of 15 hours of course
credit toward the completion of a Youth Ministry major. Crafted for
students who desire to serve in youth ministry, this major blends practical
information and mentoring relationships with traditional course offerings and
requirements of individual colleges: GYS 265, 271, 372, 375, 471, 475, and 481.

Strategies for Youth Work (3)
A study of the
various approaches, methods, and strategies of working with
youth, with practical applications for programming, goals and
desired outcomes.
295. Youth Ministry as
Missions (3)
An intensive
hands-on cross cultural study of the demographics of the youth
populations of the world, particularly as the data applies to
developing effective strategies to aid youth in cross-cultural
settings.
372.
Administration of Youth Work (3)
An examination
of the various aspects of administering the work of the youth
worker, focusing on roles, relationships, resources and
responsibilities, and practical application to the local
situation.
375. Youth
Issues II (3)
A study of the
issues facing youth as well as the developmental nature of youth
and the issues affecting them and their families.
471. Youth
Worker’s Personal and Professional Worlds (3)
An examination
of the demands upon the schedule, priorities, family and other
aspects of the youth worker’s life focusing on personal habits,
family involvement, calling, career opportunities and continuing
development.
481.
Mentorship (3)
A course of
applied on-the-job training with a local youth organization,
social agency, or church. Students will spend 3 weeks in the
classroom and at least 115 clock hours in their on-the-job
position. Particular emphasis is given to the behind-the-scenes
aspects of ministry.
